Isn't this is a gorgeously carved angel cameo? These Bull ('s) Mouth shells have been carved in Italy for hundreds of years. This is the only one I've seen with an angel, typically they are cameos of women's profiles. Very fine crosshatch pattern on the wings had to be so carefully carved. Also, the hair has been artistically shaped into loose wavy curls. Would serve as a very fine gift for someone you know that loves angels, oceans, sea life, shells and old world artisanal qualities. This cameo would look lovely perched on a low shelf, display cabinet, coffee table, home office desk or powder room. Collectible and valuable.
